The most common installation error due to a lack of privileges to write to the selected install location, most commonly when installing to the one of the 'Program Files' folders. Make sure the installer has administrator privileges by right-clicking on the installer and selecting Run as administrator.
Item Changer won't start
An error while starting up could be due to a number of different problems. The most common problems and solutions are:
- Failed to extract data files: If you downloaded the ZIP package, make sure you have fully extracted it before running.
- Failed to find LoL directory: If, for some unknown reason, it fails to find the League of Legends installation directory and doesn't ask for it, you can manually set the path by editing 'options.txt' and changing the "lolpath" value to:
lolpath:[path to LoL folder]
lolpath:C:\Program Files\League of Legends
If you are using the SEA client, you'll also have to add this line to the options file:
- Failed to initialize the program: Make sure you have League of Legends installed, as the item changer makes use of the client's images and data files. If you continue to get the error, contact me with the required debug information.
If no error message appears and you have automatic updates enabled, there may be issues with the update process. You can disable automatic updates manually by editing 'options.txt' and changing the line "updatestartup:1" to "updatestartup:0".
Custom item sets fail to load
If you have previously customized the game's recommended items and your custom item sets fail to appear in the item changer, the build files may have been deleted or corrupted. To check if this is the case, open the location of the build files by either opening the File menu in the item changer and selecting Open Champion builds folder or by opening the folder:
C:\...\League of Legends\RADS\solutions\lol_game_client_sln\releases\[latest version]\deploy\DATA\Characters
To check your build files, make sure there is a build file for each game mode changed in the specific Champion's folder ('RecItemsCLASSIC.ini' for classic, 'RecItemsODIN.ini' for Dominion, and 'RecItemsARAM.ini' for All-mid).
Items fail to save
The most common cause of a saving error is due to a lack of administrator privileges to modify files in the game directory, especially if you have League of Legends installed in one of the 'Program Files' folders. Make sure that you have administrator privileges when running the item changer by right-clicking on the item changer executable and selecting Run as administrator.
